Starbucks
While I was at Starbucks on the Promotions team, I worked on several projects that spanned across logo design, coffee packaging and design systems. Below are some key selected projects.
A future vision for Starbucks
We worked for over a year collaborating with the store design team to create a beautiful customer journey, including a brand new digital menu system, packaging, branding, and photography style. These elements worked together to create a fresh new take on what food means to Starbucks and their customers.
The finer details
The goal with this new food line was to showcase the "made fresh daily" aspect and a quality lunch, so we wanted the food styling to feel light, crisp, delicious and filling. I worked with Armstrong Pitts studios on set to create lots of close up, mouth-watering shots. I also worked with the packaging team to design labels for sandwiches, salads and yogurts.
A new house style
During my last few months at Starbucks, I was put on a special team to explore what our new store (house) style could look like. My concept was to bring some of the origins and values of Starbucks back more prominently, through a focus on ingredients in textural form, nostalgic badging and modern, type forward layouts. I created mood boards, designed new menu styles and ideas for an app refresh.
Starbucks Reserve coffee packaging
I also had the opportunity to design speciality coffee cards for the Starbucks Reserve coffee by the pound packaging. Starbucks utilizes their designers to create custom illustrations for each region they're promoting. I was asked to design for Jamaica Blue Mountain and Papua New Guinea. I made the type custom, used copper foil to elevate and went through iterations of the illustrations and colors to represent the region and it's coffee pickers.
